Every film is labelled with a certificate depending on what is involved within the film for example violence or drugs.
Examples of different certificates;
U;
A u certificate film is usually aimed at children for example animated films, of which a child would see with a parent or career. A U film would not involve any bad language, offensive words, sexual references/ behaviour or drugs/ crime.
PG;
A PG is similar to a U certificate, however some scenes in a PG may be unsuitable for young children for example sex and relationships can be suggested/ joked about, some scenes of horror and mild language is acceptable for a PG, however a parent/ guardian is always informed on a films certificate description of anything that could bother a child.
12A/ 12;
Only people of the age of 12 can see a 12, however if a child under 12 and wants to see a 12A, they must be accompanied by an adult. 12A/12 certificate films include things such as discrimination, soft drugs, infrequent strong language, moderate violence, sex references and nudity.
15;
A 15 certificate film cannot be viewed by a person under the age of 15. A 15 can include things such as adult themes, hard drugs, very strong language, nudity, violence etc.
18;
An 18 certificate film can only be watched by someone who is 18. Films with this age certificate can include things such as; bad language, sex references, sex activity and graphic violence.
In our thriller opening, we are having the certificate of 15. This is because during the rest of the film there is scenes involving violence and crime. This would also not be suitable for people under the age of 15. We feel like people under the age of 15 will not want to watch this film, including the fact that it is unsuitable for their viewing.
