Decisions on Sound

All members of our group decided that we did not want a full soundtrack of non diegetic music over our film opening. This was so that we didn't ruin the atmosphere of the setting and the scenes. We felt if we edited in music that the feeling of tension and suspense would be lost. We researched into films with only little non-diegetic music for example The Ring and What Lies Beneath;

The sound in these to scenes are very similar to ours for example they only have appropriate non diegetic sound that you might not here from the actual scene e.g. footsteps. This is similar to ours because we have the sound of the doorbell, the knocking from upstairs etc.

Therefore I am happy over the fact that we decided not to include non-diegetic sound in our film opening.
