Sound research

Me and my group researched into the different sound in thriller movies. Firstly we recalled the opening scene of The Ring's sound.
In The Ring the sound consisted of things such as;
  • Silence
  • when action picked up; non diegetic music increased/ got more intense
  • screaming
  • footsteps
  • sound of the TV turning on
We would like too include some of these sounds for example silence, footsteps and screaming. We are also planning to make non diegetic music on garage band so that the opening will seem more tense and build up anxiety within the audience. We might also include sound such as the doorbell, stairs creaking and doors banging, these will be diegetic sounds.

We watched openings/ films such as What Lies Beneath, a lot of the sound in this movie is silence, me and my group prefer silence in thrillers similar to what we have planned because it makes it seem more tense and suspicious for the audience.

  1. Make sure that when you have finished filming and editing the visual aspects of your opening, you have time to reconsider the sound effects and make sure these ideas are fit for purpose. Please use capital letters for titles.

  2. Make this more visual and interactive Georgina. Use images and links which demonstrate the research you've done.
