Me and my group also looked at a sequence for What Lies Beneath. This is a similar genre to the film we are thinking of filming and therefore we looked at it to get some inspiration.
This film sequence also has no sound similar to The Ring. For example it is silent until it leads up to the big reveal at the end of the scene, this is a useful technique to build up tension within the audience and is something that I might include in my thriller opening. A pan of the floor and then on the woman's feet (showing a close up) shows that she is about to walk into something that may cause her danger, this is a good technique that I may decide to use for example close-ups or camera work such as panning. Overall What Lies Beneath creates a mysterious/ dark atmosphere which is something I am looking to include in my coursework, this has been created through various techniques such as editing, camera work and movement and sound.
