Analysis of another students work

To ensure that I have a sufficient amount of research to start filming my thriller opening, I researched into another students AS level work, this is so that I can see how theirs turned out, and how I could use some of their work as ideas for my groups work.

We looked at another students AS work with the whole class . We did this when we were analysing thriller film openings. It was easy to see that a students work was different to other films e.g. Hollywood films. This is due to the fact, as students we have a smaller budget and therefore when making a film opening they didn't have the latest technology that they use in real movies.
We looked at a thriller opening called 'Micky's thriller opening', just by seeing the title of the film it is clear that this isn't a professional movie. When creating the name of our film, we wanted to make it stand out and seem more like a real movie title.

Micky's thriller opening was different to a real films because of the quality of the camera work, however the opening had a good plot and it seemed like a lot of thought had gone in to it when covering aspects such as the camera work. The film opening could have been more exciting for example; it didn't create much tension/ anxiety. This is something we will make sure is in our film opening e.g. music and camera shots/ angles that create tension and anxiety for the audience. This is because otherwise our film opening would be boring, it would also mean that the audience wouldn't want to watch the rest of the film.  The sound in this students work does however create suspense e.g. it increased throughout the film to create suspense. This is something we want to include in our thriller opening because it gave a good effect.

By analysing and looking at another students work it has helped me come up with ideas, it has also helped due to the fact that the negative points we found about Mickey's thriller opening will help ours to be better where theirs didn't do so well.
